My high school in Kerala was on top of a hill overlooking the Arabian sea. We used to wander into the forest, which obviously we weren't supposed to as kids. This one time, we were out in the forest having the time of our lives, when I casually parted the leaves of this tree, and found the principal's face staring back at me. Phew! that was a jump-scare moment.-- I've always loved music. In class 8, watched VH1 and MTV and other English music channels. Metallica was one of my favourites and back then, Eminem was my king. I used to write down the lyrics on paper and jam in front of my friends. When I was in the 10th I bartered a bunch of Big Babool tattoos with this kid for a compilation CD of rock music. I used to blast it in my aunt’s house. Holding a mop, pretending to play the guitar. I begged my mom to lend me some money, and bought my first guitar for 800 bucks.-- Life took different little turns since then. I graduated with a Bachelor's in Business Administration, and then took a gap year after graduation. That's when my band The Down Troddence came together. I worked for sometime, and saved up some money to buy some gear for the band. I eventually moved to Bangalore to do my masters in Psychology.-- The first time we pulled off a rock show was definitely an exhilarating experience. I mean, the entire crowd is moving and cheering for you. Even today, the hair on the back of my neck stands whenever I get on stage. Oh, it's amazing! I feel blessed to be able to see my dream materialise over the years, from pretending with a mop, to actually rocking a crowd.-- There have been sacrifices along the way.Staying up late nights, practising hard. Also, managing parental expectations. They want stability and financial security for you, which this business doesn't offer that easily. My mom 'kind of' understands.I tell her the crowd jumped, and it was nice to watch, she's like "Yeah?....are you getting paid though?' -- One of my happiest moments was when our band won 8 categories out of 13 at The Rolling Stones Metal Awards in 2014. But there are bigger things in life. I'm looking forward to more moments. Happiness is always a moving target. #DunzoIt #HumansOfDunzo
