Meriem’s mother supports the family by smuggling goods, while her father does nothing. Larbi, a blacksmith who loves books and cinema, is slowly going blind after an accident. When her mother falls ill, Meriem takes over, struggling with medical bills, her father’s demands, and her brother’s dream of emigrating. Desperate, she turns to drug smuggling. What you see in the film — the images of women crossing the border with heavy loads on their backs — is no longer happening today. That entire form of cross-border commerce has disappeared.
