The hungarian violinist András Ágoston was born in Cluj,Transylvania (Romania). He began studying the violin with Paula Kouba and Péter Zsurka. Ágoston continued his studies under István Ruha's guidance at the " Gheorghe Dima " Music Academy in his native town and after his graduating became a professor of the Academy for 20 years. He has been awarded several international prizes: J.S.Bach Competitions in Leipzig P.I.Tchaikowsky Competition in Moscow G.Enescu Competition in Bucharest Top prize winner of the Tibor Varga (Sion) and the David Oistrakh (Vienna) Competitions. András Ágoston has performed throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States, as a recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician,with orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Tonkunstler Orchester Wien, the Moscow Philharmonic, Sinfonia Varsovia (Poland), Philarmonia Hungarica (Germany), Lisbon Philharmonic (Portugal), Sofia National Radio Orchestra (Bulgaria), Shanghai Symphony Orchestra (China), the Tokyo Ensemble (Japan), Budapest Festival Orchestra, Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Budapest Strings, Bucharest "G. Enescu" Philharmonic (Romania), Bucharest National Radio Orchestra, and the Cluj "Transylvania" Philharmonic, among others, and has collaborated with many distinguished conductors, including Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Yuri Temirkanov, Justus Frantz, Roman Kofman, Emil Tabakov, Isreal Yinon, Gerard Oskamp, Ervin Lukacs, Tamas Gal, Erich Bergel, Cristian Mandeal, Emil Simon, and Johannes Wildner.He performs reguraly at the Haydn Festival in Fertőd, and holds several times masterclasses in Budapest,Miskolc,Fertőd and Nebraska.
