Traffic Police Kargil to Conduct Three-Day Awareness Programme on Seatbelt and Traffic Rules Kargil, February 10, 2026: Traffic Police Kargil is organizing a three-day awareness programme focusing on the importance of wearing seatbelts and adhering to other essential traffic rules. The initiative aims to educate commuters about road safety and reduce accidents in the district. The awareness drive is being conducted at three key locations — Ringmos Pyang, TV Station, and Bypass Shilikchey — where traffic personnel are sensitizing drivers and passengers about mandatory safety measures. DySP Traffic Kargil, Sonam Angchuk, stated that wearing a seatbelt is extremely important, especially in hilly and high-altitude areas like Kargil, where road conditions can be challenging. He emphasized that seatbelts significantly reduce the risk of serious injuries and fatalities during accidents. He further informed that after the completion of the three-day awareness campaign, strict enforcement will follow, and violators of seatbelt rules and other traffic regulations will be challaned as per the Motor Vehicles Act. Traffic Police Kargil has urged the public to cooperate with the authorities and strictly follow traffic rules for their own safety and the safety of others.
