ACL Reconstruction: Explaining the BTB Autograft
In this video, we explain the Bone-PatellaTendon-Bone ("BTB") autograft. In my opinion, the BTB autograft in the gold standard graft for ACL reconstruction in young, athletic patients. The literature would support this. Here, we harvest an 11mm section of tendon from the middle third of the patella tendon, which is used to reconstruct the patient's anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on the knee. The tendon is flanked by bone on each end, allowing for better ingrowth into the femoral and tibial tunnels. In this case, the patient is a 16 year old football player who recently tore his ACL.
