In this installment of 3D models for NCPTT's Documentation of Slave Cabin and Tenant Farming Houses Project, we visited Strawberry Place in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Named for the plethora of wild strawberries growing in the fields around the home, Strawberry Plains Plantation was a cotton plantation built by Ebenezer Nelms Davis around 1851. The home is also known as Davis House. The home was nearly destroyed during the Civil War in retaliation from Union Troops after Davis’ wife shot a Union solder at the home. The home was not restored until the 1970s when Davis descendants decided to rebuild the Greek Revival-style home and will it to the National Audubon Society. NCPTT laser scanned this building using the Faro Focus S Laser Scanner to produce this video 3D flythrough model of the building's digital point cloud. - - NCPTT's Links: Website - https://www.nps.gov/subjects/ncptt/in...
