This time, we will visit Ikema Island and its surroundings in the northern part of Miyako Island. Ikema Island is located off the coast with the Yaebise. Highlights include the Miyakojima side of the Ikema Ohashi Bridge, the view from the parking lot on the Ikema Island side, Heart Rock, Ikizu Beach, Ikema Island Lighthouse, Ohama Beach, and Umibirai. Around Ikema Island are Nishihennazaki, Cape Nishihenna Observatory, Harry's Garlic Shrimp, Sumubari Restaurant with its insanely delicious octopus bowl, Karimata Matchers, and the mangrove forest at Shimajiri. There is also the Hansen's Disease History Museum. Shimajiri is also famous for its parnto.
