Born in 1931, Marion Lush (‘Luszcz’) began playing accordion at the age of 8, and later drums, trumpet and piano. He led the Chicago polka bands the ‘Musical Stars’ and the ‘White Eagles.’ Appearing regularly on WGN-TV and WEVD-FM radio, he was voted ‘Chicago's Most Popular Polka Band,’ and named the ‘Golden Voice of Polkas’ in the 1960s. Lush owned Dyno Records, Lush Records and Lu-Mar Publishing. His hits included ‘Hey Cavalier Polka,’ ‘Nazdrowie Polka’ and the Fred Rose composition, ‘Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.’ Marion Lush passed away on May 4, 1993, at the age of 61, leaving behind his wife, Nancy, and their four children.
