The Painful execution of Viktors Arājs - Nazi Psychopath who burned Children alive

Viktors Arājs was born on 13 January 1910 in Baldone, then part of the Russian Empire. When Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union in June 1941, Arājs seized an abandoned police station in Riga. Soon after, German troops and Einsatzgruppe A arrived, led by Franz Stahlecker. Through a mutual acquaintance, Arājs met Stahlecker and was tasked with forming a special commando under the Latvian Auxiliary Police — later known as the Arājs Kommando. On 4 July 1941, Stahlecker ordered Arājs to stage a “spontaneous” pogrom. That night, his men trapped around 20 Jews—mostly women and children—inside Riga’s Great Choral Synagogue. They set the building ablaze, hurled grenades through the windows, and watched as their victims burned alive. The massacre was filmed by German soldiers and later used as propaganda.
