For almost a year The world's most famous stream locomotive, the Flying Scotsman 4472, from Britain has been thrilling Australian steam enthusiasts from coast to coast. During 1988/89 4472 visited five Australian states and the Northern Territory. Its spectacular parallel runs, double-heading and solo trips have been brilliantly recorded by camera crews from ABC TV, from the air, trackside and on board. Featuring: Official welcome to New South Wales from Moss Vale. Parallel runs in Victoria with R707 and R761. Double heading with 3801 to Brisbane. The Flying Scotsman and the Ghan in Alice Springs. At the Rail Transport Museum in Thirlmere New South Wales. Plus a magnificently filmed trip of Tasmanian loco H2 in the Derwent Valley. This video will be treasured by everyone who loves steam.
