The European Parliament's special committee on the European democracy shield (EUDS) explores the alarming decline of democracy and the growing threats to media freedom across Europe. Media organisations are navigating challenges such as disinformation, the concentration of media ownership, and political pressures. Experts analyse the state of media resilience in the EU, assessing relevant legislation, new proposals and policies. They look into ways to boost media pluralism, independent journalism and to prevent undue influence from both state actors and corporate powers.
