How To Reset Toyota Transmission Control Module(How To Reprogram Toyota Transmission Control Module). In this video tutorial I will show you how to reset Toyota transmission control module If you're experiencing unusual shifting, delayed acceleration, or rough gear transitions, a simple reset might be all you need. Here’s how to do it; TCM reset procedures can vary depending on the model year and specific type of your Toyota vehicle. For the most accurate and vehicle-specific instructions, please refer to your Toyota owner’s manual or consult a certified technician. 1. Prepare the vehicle by parking it on a flat, level surface and engage the parking brake. Make sure the car is turned off, then disconnect the battery’s negative terminal for 10–15 minutes to clear any residual power from the Transmission Control Module. Caution: Disconnecting the battery may reset or affect other electronic systems in your vehicle, such as radio presets, clock settings, and onboard diagnostics. Be prepared to reconfigure these settings after reconnection. 2. After reconnecting the battery, turn the key to the "On" position without starting the engine for a few seconds to allow the system to initialize. 3. Turn off the vehicle’s air conditioner and shift the gear to the 'Park' position. 4. Switch off the ignition and wait calmly for about 5 to 10 seconds before proceeding to the next step. 5. Start the engine and let it idle for a few seconds to stabilize. 6. Turn off the ignition and wait calmly for about 30 to 40 seconds. 7. Repeat these steps two to three times to fully reset the transmission control module. This process is an effective way to reset your vehicle’s transmission control module. However, if it continues to malfunction or keeps coming back after a short period of time, it may indicate the need for professional service. In this case, visit a certified mechanic at your local auto repair shop for a thorough inspection, diagnosis, and proper reset of the TCM.
