In this live Bible study, we walked verse by verse through Genesis chapter 1, exploring how God brings order out of chaos, forms before He fills, and establishes identity before performance. We unpacked the meaning of “tohu va bohu” (formless and void), the structure of the six days of creation, the literary symmetry between forming and filling, and the cultural context surrounding ancient creation myths. We also examined what it means to be made in the image of God, how Genesis confronts performance-based identity, and why humanity being called “very good” changes how we understand dignity, purpose, work, and worth today.
