Phenomenova Issue 1 Review Indie Superhero Comic Worth Checking Out

In this review, I talk about Phenomenova Issue 1 by Vaughn Coleman, which I heard about from Eric July or the Rippaverse team. The story centers on teenager Miles Henksly after his fathers death at the end of World War III. Heroes like the Crusader Corps and villain Lord Dragonfire play key roles in the backstory. Miles gains lightning powers and super speed from a gem during a storm. He then faces challenges adjusting to his abilities and family responsibilities. I noticed influences from The Flash, Justice League, Avengers, and Final Fantasy. The art by Philip Cruz holds up well for a first book. Colors are by Jesse Heagy, letters by Jorge Medina, and editing by Joseph Cervelin and Reed DiCenso. I enjoyed the character connection and plan to get a physical copy.
