If you grew up in the 80's then you recognize the paint job on Andy Gestautas' mustang not to mention the "Fair Warning" name on the side. Painted like the frankenstrat guitar from one of the greatest guitarists ever Eddie Van Halen! This mustang just screams rock n roll! The following story behind this car is neat and should bring back memories to many a racer who followed their dreams and passions for drag racing like Andy did! This was Andy's first car or what's left of it. He purchased the '67 for $600 in '85 right after graduating high school. The mustang originally was a straight 6 cyl 200 Sport Sprint model. Within a year he built a 289ci engine for it. He started drag racing it at Great Lakes Dragaway in '88 with the northern Illinois shelby club. Andy ran a 15:30 et and from that point on he was hooked! In a few years he was running 11:90 with the 289 using a powerglide trans. 1994 he back halved the car himself and had it painted in the Van Halen Fair Warning scheme. The switch was made to a 377 Cleveland which resulted in a 10:30@128mph. In 2011 Andy gutted the whole car and built a 6.0 legal full chrome moly chassis himself at High Speed Welding. Then came a Rhyne Engines built 400 small block ford with C3 Yates heads and a 1150 dominator carb. The 404ci engine dyno'd at 790hp@9100 rpms. A 10" Ram single disc clutch is used along with a 5 speed Liberty clutchless trans and a Ford 9.5" rearend with a 5:29 gear. Andy's best time to date is a 8.43@158mph with a 1.14 60".
