I started the day camped on the beach with my Cessna 170 and a plan to fly into the desert and spend the night under the stars. That… is not how the day went. What was supposed to be a relaxing mission to the Trona Pinnacles turned into one of the most unpredictable flights I’ve had in a while. From fighting rising oil temps in 114° heat to navigating restricted airspace and desert turbulence, this one tested both the plane and the plan.
