Lee Dental Laboratories

Lee Laboratories had been operating from Lot 143 Jalan Bendahara for over 70 years. Albert Lee Soo Fwee's father Lee Yoke En was a registered dentist, trained in Singapore-Malaya. He operated his practice under the name Lee Dental 李氏牙科 and taught his then sixteen-year-old son to be a dental apprentice. Under the mentorship of his father, Albert Lee trained to be a dental technician, making & fitting denture and repair work. In the 1960s, he took over his father's trade, re-registering the business in 1983 under the name Lee Dental Laboratories. His practice grew to service clients of all income levels from Melaka, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. In December 2022, he decided to retire and close. With no one to take over the operations, Albert's laboratory ceased its operations in February 2023. Ms Fuah, his dental technician who has worked with this laboratory for over forty years tells us at the time of closure, there were only two such laboratories operating in Melaka.
