The Handmaid's Tale and Kim's Convenience actor Amanda Brugel will defend the memoir We Have Always Been Here by Samra Habib on Canada Reads 2020. Ahead of the debates, the actor and first-time author talked about the challenges of writing a very personal memoir. The Toronto writer's first book spans continents — from Pakistan to Canada — as Habib describes her long journey through religious persecution, racism and embracing her identity as a queer Muslim woman. The debates take place March 16-19, 2020 and will be hosted by Ali Hassan. The debates will be broadcast on CBC Radio One, CBC TV, CBC Gem and on CBC Books. ➤ Find out more on https://cbc.ca/canadareads. ➤ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/CBC-Subscribe --- About CBC: Welcome to the official YouTube channel for CBC, Canada’s public broadcaster.
