This is an old video I uploaded 10+ years ago. The car is a 1967 Mustang coupe with a 550ish horsepower 347. The rest of the drivetrain includes a 4.11 9", and of course the pro-shifted T5 5spd. Face plating and pro-shifting are effectively the same when it comes to how you drive them. Face plating is far more durable though, and doesn't require the maintenance that pro-shifting requires. The purpose for this kind of modification in a manual transmission is threefold. First is durability. They're simply stronger. Second is the ability to (RELIABLY) shift above 6500rpm or so (this car saw 7500rpm shifts every day of its life). The final purpose is no lift shifting at the track. You can literally stay buried in the throttle, kick the clutch, and pull the gear. This results in quicker ETs when properly executed. Either way, as you can see...there's no need for slamming gears, massive throttle hits, or any other dramatic behavior to get it into gear...whether upshifting OR downshifting.
