How can we work for a sustainable future? If "they"—our neighbours, the government and corporations—are living with their heads in the sand, how can we make a difference? Most individuals follow the herd, and repeat the same things even when they have failed before. In this September 2013 lecture, we explored personal, governmental and corporate responsibilities for a sustainable future. We also examined science, politics, religion and the need to look at how our world differs from that of our grandparents, considering how this matters to us and to future generations and whether any unsustainable responses to today's environmental and business issues are really viable. Dean Gingrich, the presenter, is recently retired from the energy industry where he has been a project geophysicist, chief geophysicist, and an environmental planner, mainly working in Alaska. He holds degrees in geophysics from the University of Minnesota and in Millersville State College in Pennsylvania, and since the year 2000, he has authored four papers in technical journals.
