A Visit to the East Broad Top Railroad 5/29/25 - Starring ex-Durango & Silverton 1203

The time had come for us to check out of our hotel and start making our way home. On the way, I was able to make a stop at the East Broad Top Railroad in Rockhill Furnace, PA. I didn't make it down in time to see the 12PM train departing, so I chose to wait around the station for it to come back. The train was being handled by ex-Durango & Silverton Porter 80-ton 1203. This is the railroad's newest acquisition and is still wearing its Durango & Silverton paint, though in time it will be repainted and renumbered to #19. When the 12PM train came back, it was switched over to the wye to turn itself around for its next trip. While it was sitting in the station, I got several shots of 1203 idling. Its original lettering and numbers are now faded out but still visible. Finally, I got a shot of the 1:30 train passing Enyeart Road. I would have done more, but between a sore throat that had developed overnight and a long drive home, I thought it was best to just stop there. Hopefully I can do a little more with this railroad next time I'm in the area.
