Created by: Stu Sprung (Twitter:@AirSprungMonkey/Instagram:@stusprung) Pilots: Steve Wright (Instagram:@livinthedreamhelos) & Stu Sprung. Baja: Below the Hard Deck was filmed following the 2012 SCORE Baja 1000, the world's longest most continuous off-road race. The Bell 206III is the safety helicopter for Johnny Campbell Racing, the factory Honda off-road motorcycle team. Since this year's Baja 1000 went almost to the tip of Baja, the pilots decided to take their time flying back to the US and, thanks to the generosity of GoPro, capture some of Baja's most favorite and hidden spots and airstrips. After 11 hours of continuous and technical flying over the 1x Honda motorcycle during the race, (only landing to hot fuel), the scenic route back home was a welcomed alternative. Baja: Below the Hard Deck is an amateur project filmed with 100% GoPro footage using two cameras, a GoPro Hero2 and 3. It's rare to be able to the majestic colors and terrain of Baja in High Definition from a helicopter (mucho shaky) without expensive gyro-stabilizing camera equipment...but the GoPro's did a pretty impressive job. Lots of room for improvement here...but if you like aviation and Baja you will enjoy this video. For more aviation (mis?)adventures watch Stu on Discovery Channel's Dangerous Flights. (Currently only airing in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Canada.) (For info on Baja heli trips like this visit www.ltdhelos.com)
