The Swain Rework and League's Aesthetic

Swain's visual and gameplay update is out, and it prompted me to think for a while about League of Legends' aesthetic and visual design, where it's been in the past and where it's going in the future. Specifically, the way that Riot has been systematically removing the ugly, the unappealing, the repulsive and the disgusting from League's visual universe, replacing it with more appealing designs.
