Wide of people watching Zelenskyy's speech in Royal Castle square ++NIGHT SHOT++ STORYLINE: Ukrainians and Poles gathered in Warsaw on Wednesday evening to listen to speeches from both country's presidents following Volodymyr Zelenskyy's state visit to Poland. During his visit to Warsaw — a rare wartime foray out of Ukraine for Zelenskyy — both nations sought to forge a tighter relationship in defiance of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine that has reshaped international alliances. Zelenskyy, alongside Polish President Andrzej Duda, addressed a cheering and flag-waving crowd gathered in the Royal Castle yard in Warsaw. A larger gathering watched on screens outside the castle. "We liked it very much," Olena, a Ukrainian refugee from the Kharkiv region, said after watching Zelenskyy's speech. "We support our president, especially now, because all of us are in the same boat. All together we are going to achieve victory and Poland is helping us." Oleksandr, another Ukrainian national who also watched the speech, said it was "very good" the Ukrainian president had travelled to say thank you to the Polish people. Poland heaped military honours and praise on Zelenskyy as it welcomed him and his wife on the joint visit, during which they thanked the country for its crucial military support as well as being a haven for Ukrainian refugees. The former Soviet satellite that is now a member of the European Union and NATO feels especially threatened by Russia and has been a leading advocate for aid to Kyiv.
