Bick Eyelid Margin Resection

Bick, Eyelid margin resection, Lateral tarsal strip, Entropion, Ectropion, Malcolm W. Bick, MD described a simple and very effective lid margin shortening procedure for the correction of entropion and ectropion in 1966. It has become neglected, overshadowed by the irrational popularity of the more complicated ‘Lateral Tarsal Strip’ procedure. This video shows the steps involved in a modified Bick’s resection. The modifications are 1) not crushing the lid margin with an artery clip before cutting, to avoid unnecessary tissue damage, and 2) to perform layered, wound closure using absorbable sutures. Bick's resection is a simpler and safer alternative to the lateral tarsal strip.
