The AlphaTheta CDJ-3000X adds new workflow and enhanced performance features to the flagship CDJ-3000 line. The unit’s high-resolution capacitive touchscreen gets a more than one inch upgrade over the previous model, now offering a generous (and easier to see and negotiate) 10.1” display, as well as the ability to view up to 16 tracks in the browse screen. There’s also build-in Wi-Fi and an NFC touchpoint that gives you instant access to your music library anytime and anywhere by using your smartphone. Connectivity is further improved with an onboard USB-C port. In addition, you can adjust jog wheel tension for creative backspins, and other gig assists include Global Tag List and Preview Hot Cue. “If you’re a DJ who uses streaming as well as playing from a USB stick, Global Tag List is a gamechanger,” says DJ Jay Brannan. “For example, if I have two tracks from an online playlist and one from my USB drive, I can see all of them and save them into history. Then, I can keep the tag list going and convert it into a playlist if I want to. This is a really good feature for keeping track of everything you’re doing—even from various sources. “Preview Hot Cue is a really big deal if you have a song where you haven’t placed cue markers yet. While the song is playing, you can scrub through the waveform with your finger, reach the point where you want to put a hot cue and mark it right there. It won’t interfere with playback. Preview Hot Cue is amazing—especially if, mid set, you decide you don’t want to play an area of a song.
