How To Make A Purple Birthday Cake | CHELSWEETS

For my birthday this year I wanted to make myself the best purple cake!! Purple is my favorite color, but sadly not many flavors are the color purple! I really like ube, and decided it was the best purple "flavor" I could come up with! Ube is Japanese yam, and is a popular flavor in Filipino desserts. I wanted to stick with this tropical theme, so I frosted this cake with a coconut buttercream. There were so many beautiful details on this cake! The decoration on the side is inspired by @butter_and, who is an amazing baker with a a beautifully minimalist style. I frosted the cake to have a rustic top edge, inspired by the Royal wedding cake! I also painted some gel food coloring onto the sides using a cosmetic sponge. To really take things to the next level, I also added an edible gold boarder, and some fresh flowers to the top of the cake!!
