(6 Dec 1995) Natural Sound Britain's Princess of Wales stepped out in public Wednesday to open the new English National Ballet School. As the princess - a well-known ballet-lover - watched talented young dancers performing, speculation continued at Westminster about her future role as a goodwill ambassador for Britain. A crowd of supporters cheered as the Princess of Wales arrived at the prestigious new English National Ballet School in London. Diana showed no signs of strain on one of her first public appearances since a recent outspoken television interview in which she admitted adultery. Founded in 1987, the ENB school moved to a new building because it needed more space. Thirty-six students won places at the competitive school, where they'll study dance for two years. Most go on to become professional ballet dancers throughout Europe-- including members of the English National Ballet itself. The young ballet students performed for their royal patron. The princess then unveiled a plaque commemorating the opening of the school. Depending on her own delicate dance with the Palace and the Prime Minister, she may soon know whether or not she will get her wish and become a roving ambassador for Great Britain.
