In this episode of Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't, we explore the Spring Mountains just outside Las Vegas. We begin the episode by calling attention to Kyle & Chad's unnecessary and illegal campfire, one of which started a massive wildfire (the Mahogany Fire) in this exact area a mere two weeks after this episode was filmed. At the time of writing, it is still only 10% contained. We see a number of subspecies and distinct varieties of more widespread plants that are all endemic to this mountain range, having been isolated from their counterparts by oceans of hotter, lower-altitude desert for tens of thousands of years.
