Lost the untested gamble once again... This is a very unique drive, using four heads on a single platter. This is very unusual, I had never heard of that being a thing. I wonder if they did that rather than just have two heads and twice as many tracks in order to make the drive compatible with the ST-412 geometry? Who knows... I think it probably was the first half hight drive that seagate did, but that might be wrong though. It is a bummer that it turned up like this, I think these are quite rare compared to the more common ST-225 and ST-251 that came later. At least I confirmed the MFM controller to be working on my pentium and I still could hear how its seeking sounds like even if it will never store any data ever again. I still did not learn my lesson though, as I have ordered another untested drive, which had a decent price of 20€ but it is from the US and shipping and import taxes add 42€ extra... I don't think expecting anything less than 50/60€ is realistic to get MFM drives... I guess I wont get many of those. You'll probably know how that one went once I get it probably in a few weeks.
