Bilateral orchiectomy

Bilateral orchiectomy (removal of both testicles) is performed through a single scrotal incision. Procedure takes 30-45 minutes and patients are discharged same day of surgery (driver is required regardless of type. of anesthesia administered). Procedure can be performed under local anesthesia (genitals numbed but person awake) in the office or under sedation or general anesthesia in the operating room. Spironolactone can be discontinued immediately after surgery. All skin sutures will dissolve. Depending on proximity of patient to hospital and patient/provider preference, we may have you follow up in person or electronically a few weeks after surgery to make sure healing process is going well. We recommend no strenuous activity for 3-5 days. following surgery with return to activities once patient feels they are able. We can perform this procedure by itself or at time of zero or full depth vaginoplasty (having this done before additional bottom surgery will not affect ability to have future bottom surgery).
