In his opening remarks, Esfandyar Batmanghelidj, founder of the Europe-Iran Forum, explains the motivation of "business diplomacy" behind the event, and addresses the concerns of United Against a Nuclear Iran (UANI) which had launched a campaign to warn Western companies against investing in Iran targeting speakers and delegates at the Forum. About the Europe-Iran Forum: For the last three years the Europe-Iran Forum conference series has enabled noted European and Iranian business leaders to forge new relationships, share strategic insights, and lay the foundation for future trade and investment in Iran. Following landmark events in London (2014), Geneva (2015), and Zurich (2016), the Europe-Iran Forum has established itself as a key venue for "business diplomacy" between Iran and the international community.
