In this video, I’m building Aster Funeral Home in The Sims 4, inspired by Queen Anne–style homes and the real-life Callison-Lough Funeral Home, a historic building that was once the oldest funeral home in Arkansas and unfortunately no longer exists. Historically, funeral homes were often two-in-one or even three-in-one spaces: storefront, embalming rooms, and living quarters all under one roof. Because of this history I reworked the story to combine Julia’s home and the funeral business into a single space. It simplifies things narratively… and also helps with certain logistical issues—like Ian needing access to human remains without carting him back and forth to a different location. Originally, Julia lived in a more modern funeral home with her house separate, but merging the two just made more sense for the story, the setting, and the vibe. This build leans into that old-world, lived-in funeral home feel that is equal parts home, workplace, and something a little uncanny. As always, this is part worldbuilding, part Sims build, and part love letter to a fictional universe I’ve been slowly bringing to life. Thanks for watching, and enjoy.
