Traunsee - Weekend in Salzkammergut🚤

Like every spring, we were once again drawn to one of our favorite regions in Austria, the beautiful Salzkammergut. Each year, we focus on a different lake, and this time, it was Traunsee’s turn. We were in a pretty relaxed mood on this trip, and our outdoor activities followed this. Our choice for the day: the scenic Grünberg (986m.), on the northeast shore of the lake. The hike up was short but fairly steep, through peaceful, lush woodland. Once at the top, there’s a lot to do: spectacular views await, there's a Sommerrodelbahn to ride, and perhaps the highlight: the Baumwipfelpfad Salzkammergut, a treetop walk that winds its way above the forest. The path leads to a panoramic platform tower, with spectacular views across the entire Salzkammergut, all the way to the snow-covered Dachstein peaks. On our way down we decided to make the descent a bit more exciting and a bit faster by taking the toboggan run back down. A fun and exciting idea! Later in the day, we headed to the southern shores of Traunsee, where the mountains rise close to the lake's shore. We stopped in the charming village of Ebensee, went for a refreshing swim, and rented a boat to fully enjoy the alpine lake scenery and put us completely into summer vacation mood. The next morning, after a peaceful night in the Salzkammergut, we made one last stop in the picturesque village of Traunkirchen before heading back home to Tirol. Once again, Salzkammergut completely won our hearts just like it does every time. Until next time!
