The roughly 300,000 commuters who rely on Southern trains during the week have been forced to find new routes to work as the 48-hour walkout by train drivers enters its second day. Platforms that are usually crowded with Southern passengers were empty again this morning (right, London Victoria station) while other rail services were packed with those left stranded by the strikes (left, passengers queue for the Gatwick Express).
