Strassenfest is the Jasper community’s annual celebration of its German heritage. This telling of the institution history of Strassenfest begins at the opening ceremonies of the festival as some of the people responsible for building and sustaining the four-day community celebration help explain why the Jasper community takes such pride in hosting the event. This program is the culmination of over five years of gathering oral history and capturing the sights and sounds of events and activities that reflect the rich cultural heritage of this part of southern Indiana.
