In 2022 the Head of Melbourne Dental School, Professor Alastair Sloan interviewed Professor Eric Reynolds and Professor Julie Satur about two major turning points in dental care that encompass innovation and prevention in dental care. Professor Reynolds has been recognised for his outstanding achievement in the translation of scientific discovery into globally successful products that prevent and treat oral disease. The remineralising technology CPP-ACP developed from a dairy milk protein by Professor Reynolds and his team at the University of Melbourne is now sold globally as Recaldent™ and used by millions of people every day in oral health products. Professor Julie Satur has an international reputation for leading research and education in the Oral Health Therapy field with a current appointment as Professor of Oral Health and Director of Engagement and indigenous Programs in the Melbourne Dental School. She has led Oral Health discipline education and practice programs and research preparation over many years and contributed to accreditation for the Australian Dental Council. Professor Satur was instrumental in the establishment of Australian Dental and Occupational Health Therapists Association (ADOHTA) a representative body that promotes the development of the dental and oral health therapy profession by maintaining its goal "to achieve growth and development in dental and oral health therapy across Australia and the pursuit of excellence." The interview took place in the Henry Forman Atkinson Dental Museum, located in the Melbourne Royal Dental Hospital, a place to trace back through a history of innovation in health and dentistry, advances in care and prevention, and clearly see the different step changes throughout the years around education and how dentistry has been practiced in Australia and around the world over the last century.
