Unexplored Karbi Anglong | Khonuam-Part 1 | Beautiful Paite Village | Amazing Assam

This video includes the first part of the Khonuam trip series undertaken during March, 2019. Khonuam which means "beautiful or pleasant village" in Kuki-Chin languages, is a totally unexplored place in Assam. Khonuam is a largely Paite village along with nearly 4-5 houses of Thadou, one house each of Dimasa, Nepali and Adivasi communities. It is located among the Singhasan mountain range (3rd highest mountain peak is Singhasan next to Thumjang and Hempeopet from Dima Hasao district, Assam),in the most remote part of Karbi Anglong district, Assam, and remains to be a paradise on earth. We (all thirteen girls and me) went for a field trip for Lamzang Paite language documentation, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience worth sharing here, as we happened to be the first tourists to ever visit the village other than the Kukis from Manipur. The Khonuam village is approximately 30-40 kilometres from Manja and Diphu. Best transport service is to catch the unloaded ginger truck from Manja and come back in the same truck with the ginger loads or trek with the village people as local guides. Another option is to hire a sumo or similar vehicle till P.Taizol and walk for 2 hours from there towards Khonuam. The place is great for adventurers and nature explorers, and the people are very friendly. Thanks to the Kuki, Paite, Rengma and Dimasa people from Manja and Diphu, P.Taizol village and Khonuam, without whom the place would have remained in our bucket list. :) Let''s make Khonuam a popular tourist destination!
