This video shows a relatively strong storm system battering San Jose, CA with powerful gusty winds & widespread rain...though this system was to be remembered more of its crazy wind. These were the strongest southerly winds I've seen at least since 2010 or so. And this was just the 1st storm out of a new series of storms to hit us... Flood warnings were in effect for rivers and creeks across the state. High wind warnings were obviously issued for mountains and valleys which could see wind gusts up to 70 mph. The strong winds were witnessed around the city mostly during the morning hours and had slowly transitioned into a more rainy weather pattern as the day progressed into the afternoon... Footage taken around San Jose on Friday, February 17, 2017. A powerful storm system had hit the Bay Area and the rest of California this day with strong winds and rain. This was the first in a new series of storms to move across NorCal, while SoCal awaited a rains that forecasters said may be the strongest in years if not decades.... "This storm looks to be the strongest storm to hit southwest California this winter season," the National Weather Service office for the Los Angeles region wrote. "It is likely the strongest within the last 6 years and possibly even as far back as December 2004 or January 1995..." Weather forecast/scenario: A low pressure trough and frontal system was moving into California... This system was to bring light to moderate rain to the state, with heavier rain over Central & SoCal. Strong gusty southerly winds were also witnessed with this system. By Sunday and Monday, the next system moves in. This looks to be another potent storm. Rain was to start Sunday with widespread heavy rain (and heavy mountain snow) Sunday afternoon thru Monday. The Sierra Nevada was to be buried with a lot of snowfall with this system. Then, a 3rd weaker system was to move thru late Tuesday and Wednesday with lighter rainfall. It looks like yet another storm may move in late Thursday & Friday. Keep those umbrellas handy and drive safe out there!
