Hitch maintenance is an essential step in prepping for camping season. This type of maintenance should be completed at least once a year if you are an occasional camper and every 3-6 months if you travel frequently or year-round. We tow our 5th wheel with a B&W Companion Hitch. For other hitches, many of the steps are similar, but make sure to check your manual to verify. Supplies Needed: ✅️ Clean towels ✅️ Automotive chassis grease - We use Lucas Oil Red & Tacky ✅️ Grease gun ✅️ White Lithium Grease- We use Lucas Oil ✅️ Torque Wrench Companion Hitch Torque Specifications: ✅️ Pivot Arms- 110 ft lbs ✅️ Socket Post- 80 ft lbs ✅️ Draw Down Bolts- 60 ft lbs Areas to Lubricate: ✅️ Coupler head Zerk fitting ✅️ Pivot arm bushings ✅️ Hitch Jaws ✅️ Top of Coupler head- or use graphite lube plate ✅️ Pin Box king pin Save this post for future reference!
