Sumner, a Nashville native and Lipscomb University alumnus, started with just a seed of an idea. One that was wacky and audaciously inventive. Drawing inspiration from Daisuke Tanabe’s album Cat Steps, Sumner, alongside his talented brother and production designer, Shel, visionary Director of Photography, Athena Kulb, and a skilled team of many talented artists, transformed a whimsical concept into a visually stunning and narratively compelling film. The film has been praised for its originality and creativity, some saying it pushes the boundaries of absurdist cinema. Critics have celebrated the film’s distinctive style. From the Director: I’ve always been drawn to tales that are a bit bizarre, whimsical, or off the beaten path and that is often reflected in the stories I write. More than anything, I love the element of surprise. I love shock value. I love a good twist. I love shocking and delighting an audience. The origins of this sour tale trace back to an idea that lingered in my imagination, akin to a fever dream, for quite a few years. It wouldn't leave me alone.
