Welcome! Join The CatholicTV Network for the full Daily Catholic Mass celebration on this Tuesday of the Third Week of Lent. In today’s reverent Homily, Father Brian Clary reflects on the boundless mercy of God and the radical call for us to forgive one another from the heart. Drawing from the humble prayer of Azariah in the fiery furnace and Jesus’ teaching on the Unforgiving Servant, Father Clary explores how we are called to move beyond legalistic limits of "seven times" to a life defined by perpetual mercy. We are encouraged to approach the Lord with a "contrite heart and humble spirit," trusting that His compassion is the source of our pardon and protection. This Mass is a powerful invitation to allow the "holy partaking" of the Eucharist to give us life and help us reflect the Father's mercy in our daily relationships. The Scriptures highlight the depth of Divine patience and the necessity of human reconciliation: -The First Reading (Daniel 3:25, 34-43): Azariah stands in the midst of the fire and prays, pleading with God not to take away His mercy for the sake of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. He confesses that the people have become "lowlier than any other nation" because of their sins, and begs that their contrite hearts be accepted as a sacrifice pleasing to the Lord. -The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 25): A song of trust in God’s guidance: "Remember your mercies, O Lord". -The Holy Gospel (Matthew 18:21-35): Peter asks Jesus how often he must forgive a brother, suggesting seven times. Jesus replies, "not seven times but seventy-seven times," and tells the parable of a servant whose massive debt was forgiven by a king, only for that servant to refuse to forgive a small debt owed to him. Jesus warns that the Heavenly Father will treat us the same way if we do not "forgive your brother from your heart". May the holy partaking of this mystery grant us both the pardon we seek and the protection we need on our Lenten journey.
