Police Officer Shoots Knife Wielding Suspect After Crashing Car Into Lake

A vehicle drove erratically through the walking trail and crashed into the lake. As the officer approached the vehicle to check on the driver, the suspect exited the vehicle armed with a knife. The suspect pointed the knife at the officer as he walked towards her. The Park Police Officer repeatedly issued commands for the suspect to drop the knife. However, the suspect ignored her commands and continued walking towards the officer with the knife. The officer fired several rounds, striking the suspect. Life-saving measures were performed on the 30-year-old suspect, Chase Deckard-Thomas (SID: 1075416). He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Peace Officer. No officers or bystanders were injured.
