What a day and what a run! We've had some all time conditions recently, im not talking the biggest winds! although this day ended up having 57kt gusts and 50kt average wind speeds! I think this run was more like 25kts from memory, it was a bit earlier in the day... later this day we went from Takapuna to Shakespeare during some of the 35-45kt average wind speeds. Thats a whole nother video! Im on the Axis 1250 fireball for this run, for me this foil is a straight replacement of the 1201 and others. This is the new Goldilocks. Amazing bottom end! great midrange and a civilized top end. The top end is likely lower than peak 1201 speeds but it is more useable in all the other speeds especially leading to the peak speeds. I've mainly been using the 1250 with the 70cm a+fuse. I think ive used it with some others but at this moment I can't recall enough to mention it... I do aim to use it though with some of the more sportier fuses, I think the ultrashort 64cm would be a guaranteed one and likely the crazyshort 60cm too. I'll have to get back to you on these, remind me. This run has quickly become a favorite on mine, we've had over a week of SW winds which lends itself to either short peninsula south side runs or now this run... The short version of this one being 10km a-b the longer being 21-23km a-b. the shorter one is Waiwera or wenderholm to martins bay. we are stopping there if the wind has too much west in it... it so far ends up being a bit grueling crossing the wind to do the 2nd half to jones. We went out yesterday with the wind between 220drgrees and 240 and at a likely 17kts and it worked great! a bit glassy in spots and a mostly flat 500m exit to the beach against a slight cross headwind. We know that when the wind is 210 degrees ish it's easily on for the full run, actually I did it in 222degress too with slight difficulty. When the full run is on you get a 25-27km run that requires 1hr of driving one way. If you do the shortened 10-13km run you end up having to do a similar drive time of around one hr... This is all quite specific beta but it will mean a lot to the local guys and also you get to see how much we are looking into these runs we do! we are getting quite specific with reports and readings and taking it to a new level mom specific beta. Hopefully that makes you feel less strange if you are doing similar things. I think thats enough for this one, it was an amazing run and the video should tell you far more than any words id write!
