Ties between India and Bangladesh have been strained since last year, but over the past few days, Bangladesh has taken steps that have seen a strong response from India as well. Bangladesh seems to be closing the doors on the partnership with India in several areas, including the Chittagong Port, where it says it is being guided by national interest. India is also now considering alternatives to Bangladesh in the region by bypassing Bangladesh using the sea. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has strongly reacted to Bangladesh’s comments on the northeast. In a strict warning, he said, “…no country should be under the impression that it can take over the Chicken's Neck. The World has seen India's military prowess during Operation Sindoor.” “We have one Chicken's Neck. But Bangladesh has two Chicken Necks. If Bangladesh attacks our Chicken's Neck, we will attack both the Chicken Necks of Bangladesh…”, he added.
