This is a video of highlights from the Dec. 11, 1972 World Hockey Association game between the Winnipeg Jets and the New England Whalers at Boston Garden, won by the Whalers, 4-3. It is film, with only crowd noise, from the WCVB Collection, transferred by Northeast Historical Film. Thanks to NHF for the OK to post it with watermarks; for information on obtaining a clean copy visit www.oldfilm.org. It is not in perfect chronological order. Former Chicago Blackhawks star Bobby Hull is the biggest name to have jumped to the WHA, and Boston hockey fans, who have always appreciated Hull, check in on the new Jet. He has an assist on Winnipeg's first goal, although the Whalers claim the victory. Hull gets off a slapper from center ice, but he never quite can clear himself for one of his patented boomers motoring down the left side, despite one leather-lunged fan's constant directive: "Let's go Bobby Hull!". Copyright WCVB. I don't claim the rights to, and don't profit from, this video. I just posted it for historical and educational purposes, and for those who will enjoy it as much as I did.
