The power of forgiveness January 20, 1994 was the most tragic day in the life of a Polish singer of Greek origin, Elleni. On that day, she found out about the death of her only daughter, Aphrodite. The killer turned out to be the girl's ex-boyfriend, who could not come to terms with their separation. We can imagine the struggle that began in Ellen's heart. However, at one point she reached for the phone and dialed the number of the boy's mother, who turned out to be the murderer. And he says: ma'am, I am having a very difficult time. I lost my daughter, but in some way you seem to have lost your son as well. I just wanted to tell you one thing: I apologize to Piotr. Then, when Elleni received the Saint Rita of Cascia award, which is awarded each year to a woman who was able to forgive under the most difficult circumstances a serious guilt or crime, when asked by a journalist where she got the strength to forgive Peter, she said: It was faith that made me forgive. Now, when I listen to Elleni songs, I take them as a testimony. Break the chain of revenge My beloved: Break the chain of revenge. There is such a very beautiful, and on the other hand a tragic, brutal play, the bloodiest play by William Shakespear called "Titus Andronicus". I watched it twice - an adaptation of the play starring Anthony Hopkins. It is a performance in which a chain of revenge is shown, revenge as a self-propelling mechanism. The most frightening scene is the sight of a woman with her arms removed, her tongue cut off, and branches planted in place of her hands. This is the victim of the bloody revenge of two brothers. It is worth watching this play as a warning. It shows the nonsense of revenge. Confucius, a Chinese thinker, said a maxim worth remembering: Whoever plans revenge, let him dig two graves at once. How can I do this to forgive? Someone says: But I want to forgive, I just can't. I do everything, but it doesn't work. Make a decision. Leave your emotions for now. The fact that you have negative emotions towards the person you want to forgive doesn't mean anything. You made your decision. You will work on your emotions. They may not follow your decision for now, but there will come a time when they will meet the decision and you will forgive them fully. Now what matters is the act of forgiveness. I forgive. Saying this word comes with great difficulty. But if you say: "I forgive", say it with conviction, it will be your decision, and you will ask God for grace, your emotions and what you feel in a short time, maybe longer, will overtake your decision and you will forgive fully. It is worth listening to the words of Elleni's song: Let us abandon evil, stop playing with evil and with a pure tear let us try to save the heart, because the time has come and the Child was born, and with Him the Tiny Love came.
