Scrubs star Sam Lloyd has died following a battle with cancer.  The TV actor was just 56-years-old and last year had revealed he had been diagnosed with cancer of the brain and lungs just weeks after welcoming a son named Weston with his wife, Vanessa.  News broke of Sam’s sad passing on Friday, with Scribs co-star Zach Braff, 45, among the first to pay tribute to the comedy actor.   Taking to Twitter on Friday, Zach – who played John ‘JD’ Dorian on the comedy series – shared happy memories and insight into working with Sam as he paid tribute to his friend and colleague.  He tweeted: "Rest In Peace to one of the funniest actors I've ever had the joy of working with. Sam Lloyd made me crack up and break character every single time we did a scene together.  He added: "He could not have been a kinder man. I will forever cherish the time I had with you, Sammy."  Bill Lawrence, creator of Scrubs, tweeted: "Thinking a lot about Sam Lloyd today. (Ted). Truly such a kind, sweet guy. He will be missed by so many."  Following his initial diagnosis in early 2019, the cast and crew of Scrubs rallied around Sam, launching a GoFundMe to help him in his fight against cancer.  In March, the page was updated to give report about Sam's joy at spending time with his young son on his first birthday – as well as updates on his activities.  The post, updated by Scrubs writer Tim Hobert, stated: "In the 13 months since Sam’s original diagnosis, with help from you guys (incredible people from all over the world), he has made the most of the time that he has been given. Read More Showbiz editor's picks  "He was able to go back to his home state of Vermont and play his annual gig with his Beatles band, The Butties.  "He was able to do guest spots on Modern Family and American Housewife that allowed him to qualify for the Screen Actors Guild insurance policy.  "He was able to spend time with dear friends, help his mother in the last stages of her life, and sing for her at her funeral, and most importantly, he was able to spend time with his wife, Vanessa, and celebrate Weston’s first birthday!"  Sam was also the nephew of Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd.
