A couple years ago, we brought home our first family dairy goats. I remember setting up a crude goat pen made out of free pallets from local hardware stores. The goat kids proved so tiny and sneaky that they would constantly escape through the gaps. Both my husband and I grew up on small farms, and quickly became accustomed to the way of life in the country...raising Angus cattle, riding horses, and flourishing in the outdoors. A few years ago we finally purchased our own property and home. 10 acres felt like a massive step down from what we were used to. It had no fence for animals, and over 2/3 of the property was completely treed. We truly had to start from scratch. While we currently are dreaming about moving to a space with more land to be able to expand our little farm, we are trying to focus on setting our own property up in a way that is functional for our family and farm animals. We share a lot of real life. There's mess. There's life. There's death. There are endless projects, there are frustrations and disappointments. This life is not easy, we sacrifice a lot to make it happen. And we are excited to be able to share pieces of our life on this small farm with you.
