Welcome aboard the Volvo B10M Mk IV! These buses form the bulk of SBS’s Volvo single decker fleet since the 90’s. The B10Ms with the “Strider” bodywork were introduced in October 1995, appearing after the DMs. Indeed, the iconic “Strider” bodywork makes the bus look sleek and modern, and has stood the test of time (like the “Box” bodywork on the SMRT Mercedes-Benz O405s). They have served well on both feeders and trunk services of then SBS and SBS Transit currently. The B10Ms were unique in that they had their aircon units fitted towards the rear of the bus, due to the mid-engine chassis of the bus. They received grey leather aircon ducts that were common on SBS’s buses during the 90’s. For those bus fans who simply love ZF gearboxs, the Striders are the only full fleet of Volvo B10Ms to have ZF gearboxs. In this video, we take SBS1985C on 69. This video was taken from Tampines Ave 1 to outside Tampines Int. The friendly uncle drives the bus carefully, as well as with style and speed.
